Two local organizations, human rights nonprofit MindFreedom Or
egon and disability consulting firm Aciu Institute, have released a combined briefing that raises major concerns about a $19 million proposal for Lane County, Oregon: There is a serious lack of involvement by local residents with “lived experience” of mental health care, and their organizations. This ongoing oversight threatens human rights violations, such as the needless use of coercion, authors charge.
Following a one-page summary of concerns, Intern Gabe Jenkins has researched a four-page analysis. MindFreedom Oregon will discuss this briefing during their monthly Zoom which is scheduled for this Friday, 2 December.
